Since 1977 : Kona Skatepark

Woke in Jax Beach and it was off to Kona Skatepark. Redbull Dave stays in a camper and was stoked to help a fellow rider out. He said I was welcome to set up camp and there was no way I could turn that down! We chilled out... grabbed some lunch and caught up, then Dave was like "put the bmx together, lets do some carving". Felt like I was a little kid at Christmas time. We had a blast. Just pedaling full speed and letting it rip. I was wearing my shades and felt like I was a local dude in the 70s'. So much history at this place and was stoked to finally be here. Couldn't believe it took me this long to get here! If you wanna get away from it all for a bit, come get gnar in the snake runs. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Fun In The Sun

I started this trip knowing that I was going to encounter a lot of flats, just didnt know when the first one was going boom. It was in Flagler Beach and had to have been one of the chillest flats I have repaired in my cycling days. I noticed something was up when the rig started swaying from side to side. I pulled off the shoulder and saw that the wheel on the trailer was not so pitted. Patched it and was rippin down the line once again. The open road ahead was beautiful. Pedaling threw the oldest city in the States (St. Augustine) it was a first and thought how wild it must have been a hundred years ago when non natives where coming over and wanting to rage. From Villano Beach to Palm Valley, Twelve Mile Swamp Conservation Area was to the left of me and the beautiful Atlantic on the east, it was radical! I arrived in Jacksonville Beach a bit late, 11pm to be exact. Thanks to Allison, Heather, Kelley,Colton, and Caitlian, I had a place to stay and was stoked to be able to celebrate Allison's Birthday with them and friends. It's beach living for another day and then its off into Georiga.

Daytona Beach

Mike and I rolled up to the Dayona Beach skatepark as the sun was a setting. I was stoked. Always nice rolling up to a new spot for the first time. After pedaling a good 60 miles I was ready to carve around and have a chill sesh on the bmx. James and Aaron met us out there and we all had a blast. When the fella came to shut the lights off and kick everyone out Aaron said that our friend John and his brother Matt wouldn't mind putting us up for the night, which was a treat seeing that it stormed like no other. Blocks away from the skatepark was this two story building with a lot of character. John and Matt lived up stairs with the lower level vacant. Guess a few years back there was a grocery market down there. After a few frosty bevies it was time for a much needed night of rest. Next its off for Jacksonville and my first flat of the trip.
