We packed the kayak and canoe on the trucks and were off!! Out of the city limits of Orlando and off to the east coast of Florida to the beautiful Mosquito Lagoon in New Smyrna beach. We put our vessels into the water just before dusk and paddled with the current to an island Brooks knew of by a sandy beach he had remembered from google maps images. We pulled onto the little beach and unloaded our gear...tents, sleeping bags, poles and a guitar; we looked like we were taking our boats out see if the world was round or flat. We had a great time on the island visiting and fishing. The catfish we caught were not the monster reds we were hoping to catch but they tasted well cooked over the fire we had rippin late into twilight. Will, Brooks, Blake and I gave the isolated island we had to our selves the nickname "catfish island" and are looking forward to next years trip!!
